Tolerate or Celebrate? :D :D

Assalamualaikum :)
This is one of the things I kept thinking about, but have little confidence writing as I’m not sure if what I’ll write fully represent my thoughts. I used to think that if I don’t have the right words, or inspiration to write about an issue that bugs me much, maybe because it’s just not the right time to write it down. Or maybe, I’m just not good enough with words, period. See, even the intro seems weird enough. It’s kind of annoying when you have things to say, and to you, it’s very important, but you just don’t know how to put it in words. Nevertheless, I’ll try my best so my thoughts won’t just end up being, well, thoughts. I’m just going to put a disclaimer before anyone reads this post.
This is not an easy-to-digest post. Not to say I’m too advance that people don’t understand, instead, because of my lack of skills in vomiting out my thoughts.”
Here goes..
Tolerate or celebrate in this post refers to our treatment to people who have different point of view in life than us, that might be inspired by religion, culture, political interest, etc. The problem is how we deal with these people.
I love this one particular Christian based (as they claim) conspiracy forum. The thing that I want to emphasize is how they (well, some..) despise Islam. They work hard to find evidence in Youtube, any news articles, any events that can relate Islam to violence. The Westerners (again, some..) fear that Islam would conquer their nation. These people would cherry pick the verses in the Quran, Hadith, or statements by some unknown so-called Imam that support violent. They spread the fear that Shariah would crush their society. The saddest thing of all is the misinformation spreads and people have this bad image of Islam, and they stereotyped Muslims. Sounds like I’m a bit defensive?
Let’s talk about Malaysia. I’m going to talk about the Muslims society in Malaysia, as I’m raised within this community. The situation where Islam is the Agama Rasmi (okay, have no idea what to call this in English now :p). What have we been told since our childhood? For example, Christianity movements threat this country. They move from town to town, even to rural areas, where the MPs don’t even know exist (I’m a bit exaggerating here..). They help the people; build schools and hospitals so that they can convert the people they help. In Malaysia, we have to admit, that we’re so sensitive with this issue, especially the Muslims. We say a lot of bad stuff about other religions. We have this negative image embedded in our mind when we talk about other religions. But do we really understand them? Or do we just judge them based from what the people, our old men, talk about them? Or do we just judge them because we believe their religions hold no value because we believe ours is the truth? Just because we believe we are blessed with the truth, doesn’t mean we have the right to mislead people to hate others who have different opinion about life, do we? Okay, now, where am I going..?
The worst thing in Malaysia, to me, is we let our ignorance lead our life. I’m talking to the Muslim Malays especially (and to others as well..). We tend to generalize people based on their ethnicity. We sometimes don’t even know the difference between a race, a country and a faith. For example, how many of us haven’t heard the term ‘Cina’ coined to identify non-Muslims? One might argue that this is just a casual term that has nothing to do with generalizing them to be non-Muslims. Well sir, with that attitude I’m going to say that we lack the empathy, and being selfish that expect others to respect our feelings, but not willing to share that sentiment with others. (These two situations (i.e. ignorance in religions and ethnicities, esp. in Malaysia) are a big concern to me that they need a special post themselves, maybe later..)
Now, the question is why is this happening. For those who cannot see, or prefer to turn their one eye off, this is happening all around the globe. My personal view is this is the classic example where the majority abuses the minority. Simple as that. Where one’s might defined by their numbers, where the public (i.e. the majority) has certain views (usually negative) towards others who are a bit different. This is usually done by those who claim to be the rightful owner of a place, or a country, and hold the majority in their society. Like I said earlier, this is not exclusive to Malaysia. It’s happening all over the world. From the third world countries to the most powerful country on Earth right now. They call for the minorities to return to wherever they came from (sound familiar?); even when they were born and they pledge their allegiance to the country they currently reside. Isn’t this just stupid? To me, these people just demonstrate their very limited knowledge of history, or justify their ill-treatment to others based from their anecdotes, and turn a blind eye to see the bigger and complete picture of the world history. Have these people who feel they’re strong, they are the righteous lord of a country, that they’re free to say whatever they want, do whatever they please to these minorities been minorities themselves? Well, shame on them if they have, that they don’t take any lessons from that.
We Muslims will all boil up if there is news that Muslims were treated badly. Our brothers and sisters were killed in Palestine (some argue that Palestine doesn’t even exist, well, in that case you know the place I’m referring to). But what do we feel, for example to the current church bombing in Egypt, supposedly done by Muslims? Don’t we realize how angry the Christians are? They would just say that this is another proof of the ‘Religion of Peace’ in action. Are we going to just sit silently, and treat this as just another news on TV, as this has nothing to do with us? Nothing to do with us? Really? Don’t we want to at least know what really happened and study if it’s justified in Islam? My point is, we’re all human beings with feelings and emotions. As we can get angry if something bad happening to us, so do others. So treat others with respect. Just because we are the majority in an area, doesn’t mean we can silence the minority. Remember, if we want to play this majority-minority game, no one would win. It’s our nature to find the differences between us, as this classic joke points out:
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off.
So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said.
I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?"
I said, "Well, are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious."
I said, "Me too! Are your Christian or Buddhist?" He said, "Christian."
I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?" He said, "Protestant."
I said, Me too! Are your Episcopalian or Baptist? He said, "Baptist!"
I said, "Wow! Me too! Are your Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord? He said, Baptist Church of God!"
I said, "Me too! Are your Original Baptist Church of God or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God!"
I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915!"
I said, "Die, heretic scum!" and pushed him off
Hence, lesson learnt? This stupidity must stop now!
Now, I don’t think this post will contribute positively towards the society. I’m not sure if people even understand what I was trying to say. One thing I’m sure of is; I think this is an important topic. There’re just times when I feel like sharing this concern with others, but I just don’t know how to convert these thoughts into words, and this post is a perfect example of that.
So, are we going to tolerate or celebrate our differences? The choice is ours.
Just sharing my $0.02
Cheers :D :D

p/s – This might be my lamest post, with weird terms (e.g. anecdotes? Do I use that correctly?) and well, as usual, my grammar. Haih..

Gay n OK :D :D

Assalamualaikum :)..

This issue is not a new one, nor it's exclusive to Malaysia. The wave of being open as homosexuals swept the world for the past few years. From celebrities to some unknown guy who posted his sexual orientation in Youtube, they now feel this is the right time if not the best time to tell the world who they are. The time when human rights is championed by many. Everyone feels and have the confidence to show the world who they really are, and it's their right to do so.

It's also to me, an opportunity for us to learn more about them. I think as they are opening themselves to the world regarding to their sexual orientation, serious studies must be conducted to determine whether this phenomena (homosexuality) can be explained (e.g. why do they become homos? (i.e. is it solely based on their decision, or if there's something in our genes that determine the level of our homosexual-ness) or is it a phenomena which we should ignore and live side by side with.

One cannot run from the religion perspective when talking about this issue. The problem with this approach is not everyone aggrees with our religion point of view. It's like a Muslim says to his fellow atheist that he should not eat pork, as it's forbidden in Islam. Why should our atheist friend care? He's not a Muslim. Then we change our approach. We tell them that from medical point of view for example, that porks contain lots of bad bacteria and stuff (I personally dunno, just an example :p)

Same goes with this issue. Just because it's forbidden in Islam, we shouldn't get emotional in dealing with this situation. Muslims nowadays, some only kept their Islam in their name and IC. They know that for example, being a homosexual in Islam is forbidden. That non-marital sex is forbidden. They know that alcohol is forbidden. They just know, yet they can't seem able to control themselves to avoid or stop doing whatever they are doing.

Now, in Islam point of view this's just wrong. The question is, is punishment alone enough to tackle the problem? Just because the Holy Quran gives clear instructions on how to punish these people, doesn't mean it forbids us to study the roots and tackle the roots of the problem instead. Now, get my message clearly. I never meant the Holy Quran to be insufficient or question the authority of the text. Just, if you feel that's what I said, help yourself to read this paragraph again.

It's like, if some religious text says that flu is a sin. Are we going to kill whoever caught the disease blindly? Are we as a Muslim going to agree with that view? Same goes here. It's because we think we hold the truth, and everyone think their version of truth is the truth, the problem arise.

Now, what can we do. Personally, we have to first know what causes people to turn into homosexuality. This is not a new trend. Even the Holy Quran agrees:

"Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds” HQ, 07:80-81

This verse, taught by Muhammad (SAW) to his followers around 1400 years ago. So why should we be surprised with homosexuality today? We should be surprised that no one seems to have found a concrete reason on why this happen and how it's wrong and if it's wrong, how to prevent or deal with this problem. The people today who usually speak the loudest in condemning this situation, and eager to punish these people, doesn't have the experience other than knowing it's wrong. What if his/her son, is a homosexual? What if his father is actually a homosexual? If he knew that it's wrong, doesn't he want to know how to cure this so-called disease?

For those who think Islam is the way, the truth, and relevant, this is the time to show what has Islam got to offer to curb this problem. This's not an issue for advertising your political rhetoric. Take this issue seriously. Those with knowledge should share their knowledge to help the society.

If I'm going to take my stand, I'm going to say “Gay, is not OK”. This will only lead to the destruction of family institution. Love is sacred. Lust should be guided. For those who are 'straight', don't blindly judge others by their choice of how they live their life. If you think what they do is wrong, morally and spiritually, find a way to learn why it's wrong, and how to guide them who chose this lifestyle to become normal. Nowadays, everything is subjective. The very word “normal” is subjective. If you think what you have is the truth, in this age of reason, learn how to persuade and convince your way of life to others. Preferably, without violence.

D: D: sdoolf natsikap

Assalamualaikum :)..

As for a standard opening for a long time inactive blog. “fuuhh, been a very while since my last update..”. People say if you got nothing good to say, well, shut ya yap. Same goes if u got nothin good to write, OR, if ur lazy enough to write. Lazy to write leads to lazy to think of what to write leads to lazy to think and leads to brain idle which is not very2 good. So, here goes..

First off, happy Ramadhan. Another Ramadhan abroad for me. Another period when I'm in lab when every one else prepares for their iftar. Sad? Tired? A little, but I'm quite excited as well, as I'm not sure when (and where) else can I gain this kind of experience, yes? As usual, this is the period of the year when the prayer room will be full (for iftar..what else :p). Not a very bad thing really, at least people come to the prayer room and perform the prayer together, nicee~

Just because I don't write, doesn't mean I don't know bout our world kan. Big flood in Pakistan for example, they're gonna need billions of dollars to recover. Any idea how big a billion is? As we're still in the month of Ramadhan, it's somehow a blessing for us to be given such an opportunity to help our brothers and sisters there. And this can serve as a great reminder for us as well, as Allah promised in His Book:

“Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil)” (2:155)

Wallaweh rite? He promised to test us with fear, hunger, loss in goods or lives. Come to think about it, when was the last time we were tested with those things? When was the last time we were tested with hunger, without knowing when exactly can we fill our stomach? Not the I-don't-have-anything-to-eat-but-Maggie type of hunger. When was the last time we were tested with sudden loss of everything we hold dear? At least our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, Gaza, West Bank, and everywhere else have already tasted the promised made by Allah Himself. We, who are still in a very comfortable blanket of safety should be worry for we don't know when and how will we be tested (and how we will react).

So, what should we do? Sit and think about the unknown that might happen? Well, that's not a bad idea, if that's not the only thing we do. We can prepare whatsoever, but what about our brothers and sisters who are already in dire need for help? That's when we, the ones who are still 'saved' ('saved' - as safety is a kind of test, if you think about it..) from those disasters, come into picture. HELP THEM for the mercy of Allah!! It's pretty obvious, rite?

Cheers :D

Graduation Pom Pom Pom :D :D

Assalamualaikum :)..(fuuh fuuh~ byknye sawang blog neh..huhu)

This post is dedicated to the graduates of University of Auckland class of 2009. I'm not good with words, have long lost touch producing good arguments and essays. So, congratulations to all graduates :D :D, whether or not you guys made it to the graduation ceremony, the fact you guys were once here that matters. All the memories and hardships, the fun and sad moments, bla bla bla.. (being lazy to describe :p). Celebrating Aidilfitri together away from home, struggling together to finish up seemingly endless course works, the same face I see everyday..haha. You guys are the best, only second to my own family. If only people can just read minds, so I don't have to write lengthy words just to express my gratitude. Well, you guys are totally irreplaceable!! You guys make Auckland feels like Kajang to me, even better. I really am hoping that I won't forget the memories here, well, I'm an expert at forgetting things, unfortunately (sigh~). So brain, if you can hear my thoughts now, please, don't forget this.

To Imran, Abah, Luqman and their band of engineers, Safwan and the gang of educators, Nizam, Meor, and many more. Congratulations!! May this success by no means stopping you guys from achieving more :). Yosh!!

p/s – Living in Auckland somehow made me realizes no matter how much we love this place, no matter how much memories it represent, we'll have to someday return to Malaysia (or we can definitely stay, that's another unrelated topic to discuss :p). Seems time has no regards of who we are, and we're totally bounded by its rule, no matter how much we want it to stop and would really want to enjoy the time here without much regrets or the fear that this will all end. At the end, a visitor needs to do what he do best, leave. The same can be said about life in general, rite :), because that's who we really are, visitors to this wonderful planet we call home :). wallaweh~ :p

Fast, Faster, Fasting..(vroom vroom??) :D :D~

Assalamualaikum :)..

I'll start with some standard intro for Ramadhan :p..

Alhamdulillah, here we are still able to breath and enjoy the most anticipated month in Islamic calendar. The month which contains a night that's equivalent to a thousand months (approx. 80 years..wallaweh~) (HQ 97:03). The month where all the doors of heaven are open as wide and the doors of hell shut as tight (ref.). The month of, well, to summarize, the best month of all months :p.

This is my second unfortunate (hehe..no la :p) year of celebrating Ramadhan abroad. Fortunately enough, here in Auckland, especially in CBD area, it's not difficult to pay your responsibility as a Muslim :). It's even just a matter of whether or not you want to offer your tarawikh prayer in congregation (unlike in other places that I heard of, it's even hard to find another Muslim). There's a small (compared to the number of Muslims here..but hey, it's a good place :)) room provided by the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) acts as masjid :).

This is a very very d very very good opportunity to know other Muslims from other part of the world better. For example, We have our iftar in a big tray shared by bout 9 persons per tray, and consists of brothers (well, in brothers pov of course :p) from all range of backgrounds and origins :). What's the use of eating together without trying to know each other, right :).

This year's Ramadhan celebration falls at around the end of winter. So, we're (i'Allah) approximately observing our fast as long as those in Malaysia :).

That's all I can think of right now :).

Tho it might be a little late..

“Happy Ramadhan to every Muslim all around the world.” -bom bom..kebabom (firecrackers sfx :p)-

May we gain the maximum benefit possible from this once per year festive season :). May we're blessed enough to meet the Lailatul Qadr. The night = 1000 months :) :).

Oh, and may we forget not bout our brothers and sisters who already strive a bit harder than us to keep on living. Well, this is a good time (not to say the only time..) to help 'em out right :). YOSH!!

Cheers :D D

Goodbye: PPSMI (for now, at least) :D :D..

Assalamualaikum :)..

The government just decided to 'return' the language of the teaching and learning of science and mathematics (PPSM) from English.

  • One thing for sure, the amount of people opposing the implementation of PPSMI are as great as those who support the notion.

  • My stand as for now:

    • Be it in English or Malay, I'd do my best to deliver my future responsibility (i'Allah) for the sake of Islam i'Allah :D.

    • Arguments at this (i.e. our) level will bring more confusion and won't solve anything.

    • I have no intention to argue nor to debate upon this matter. Any discussion/share of knowledge as to make things clearer is however most welcome and highly appreciated :). It's my hope to have a discussion where people are trading their ideas with the respect for others. The respect of others ability to think and decide, and the respect for their ideas to be heard equally.

I pray for the best of my people i'Allah. Amiin :D :D

Easter Vs. Aidilfitri :)

Assalamualaikum :)..

Reading the newspaper (NZ Herald - Traffic Warning - Stay off the Roads) today made me chilled. The news basically reported the traffic congestion in the long holiday of Easter which is to be expected this weekend. Here in New zealand, apart from Christmas+New Year holidays, Easter holiday is one of the most anticipated holidays. Comparable to Aidilfitri holidays back in Malaysia.

The news of the traffic jam isn't anywhere near shocking to me. The one thing that really got me was the fatal accidents occured yesterday. They claimed 5 people were dead on the road yesterday (and I think it's the nationwide death toll). 5 people loss on the road was quite a big number, as on the last paragraph of the article the author includes a statistics of Easter death toll from 2007; 6 in 2007, 9 in 2008 and 5 up to last night.

I do some googling (yes, google is a verb :p) "kematian kemalangan jalan raya musim perayaan", and I opened harakahdaily webpage, and the news quite disturbing somehow. Not from their political PoV, but from the number of fatalities they recorded on the 1st day of Ops Sikap 12 in 2007 (it's been 12 years the govt lauches the Ops Sikap till '07). There was 25 death toll on the 1st day of Ops Sikap. Nearly 3 times as many as the highest number of deaths for the whole Easter holidays in NZ. It makes sense then the claim that I heard somewhere (which I heard, not listened. a.k.a. I can't remember where I got the info though :p) that 1 of the major preventable death causes in Malaysia apart from health diseases, is road accident. Which is absolutely not a good news to share, and somehow puzzling. Our roads standard isn't bad
(if it's not excellent, compare to the roads here in NZ..hehe), we got a better highway system (apart from the payment of course :p) with places comfortable and safe enough to rest. Still, the fatality rates keep on rising, in the festive seasons especially.

Maybe there're factors which I don't take into account when talking about the road accident rates in Malaysia. Most of the accidents didn't occur on the major highways (PLUS, LPT, etc). The road condition isn't as good outside the major highways. Holes, unproper signs (sometimes confusing, even in the highways..haaih), and the attitude of drivers (which is why they call the operation Ops Sikap).

The public road isn't a good place to show off your skills, to realise the techniques you learnt in Need for Speed, Burnout and dozens more titles. The public road is the place for everyone to use with confidence that they can get to their destination without any worries. It's frustrating to know that there're people who suffered from the accidents which is caused by others insolent way of driving. The responsibity and the respect of others lives should be implanted in the minds of these drivers. They're not just hazarding themselves, but also others who tried their best to keep their family safe in their journeys. Just because you are confident that you'll be safe, doesn't mean you can drive recklessly on the roads as we don't perceive the situation on the roads equally. Bear in mind that we're not all born to drive and be cool on the roads as Karamjit Singh or Muhammad Hafiz (hehe..).

Lesson Learnt:
Drive safely, respect others lives, enjoy the holiday :).

Perak: A Thing or Two (or 3..erm, even 4 :p) to be Pondered Upon :D

Assalamualaikum :)..

I made myself clear that I dun wanna discuss the issue of 'lompat parti' in Perak or elsewhere. It's just that when surfing the net, reading the comments and even posts in blogs, forums, seems like, we're bursting out our emotion rather than rational aspect of the issue. This might not reflects to all, but to some, well, it's time to put on our thinking cap, shall we :).

1) 'Lompat Parti'

Are these people eating they're own words?

Before:

PR - 16 Sept Aspiration: where several MPs would change their side of seats in the parliament and support PR

BN/UMNO - 'Lompat Parti' is totally unacceptable, unethical and unjust.

After:

PR - The MPs who resigned are traitors.

BN - Le'ts just accept our MP who want to return to us

Question to ponder:

Sometimes it's not sufficient to judge from just seeing the effect of actions. We should ask ourselves, why do they give 'contradictory' statements. They're not morons (well, supposedly not). This is what I mean:

Why PR said 'lompat parti' from BN to PR is acceptable but not otherwise?

a) They believe the action was done on moral basis, they're (the Lompat MPs) not offered
any rewards for doing so.

b)The MPs who changed from PR to BN were all 'paid'.

*well then, to what extent the statements are true?

This is what we should look for. Not just by judging from their action of 'lompat parti'. We shouldn't waste our energy focusing to cure (in this case, comment) the symptoms, rather, use the symptoms to find the real 'disease'and act accordingly.

2) The BN's action of toppling the current Perak govt. without election

This is just giving a green light for others that this's permisable (@least 'morally'). Well, then we (or they (BN)) can't blame PR if the same reply is done by PR(whether it's on state level or national level). Coz they (BN) are actually the pioneer for this.

The question of whether with this step, it's a sign that the country isn't anymore steered by Rakyat. Instead, it's controlled by few political elites, Where they can 'lompat parti' and to support the other side of the political power without any consent from the Rakyat. They're 'Wakil Rakyat's. The Rakyat's reps. Their job is to represent Rakyat. Not to make their own personal decision (no matter how morally justified (which is a subjective matter) it is) that directly affect the Rakyat, without first, consulting the Rakyat. The concept of democracy, where Rakyat rule the country is being undermined (or, the flaws of democracy are starting to show themselves).

These are few questions that we should at least ponder upon, before we enter the stage of thinking bout the conspiracy theories, and other. We need to be clear of the situation before making up ur mind.

3) Extremists cannot be reasoned with

Be it PR or BN, the issue of extremism isn't new. Its not a problem at all to show our support towards our beliefs. The problem is to support blindly. To add the spices, let's make things worse with EGO, when we think we're the ones who know, the others info are totally unreliable. Totally reject others POV when they're not in line with ours. This attitude is the reason of the break ups within our community. "Oh yes, we're trying to develop the country. But first, let's just get rid of our competitors who didn't agree with us. So that we could develop the nation peacefully". Why don't we just accept that everyone wants the best for the nation. And there isn't only a single way to do so.

4) Racism

This is the saddest part of our society. We're being racist. We think our nation is superior than others. It's not wrong to think that way. It'll develop the sense of appreciating who you are and try your best to 'up' your nation. The problem is, when we belittle others. The problem with racism -why Islam detest racism - is becoz we don't choose our race when we're born. (for Muslims, we believe) It's Allah who chose who you are. In what nation or tribe ya'll be born in.

"...made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that who has At-Taqwa (being a person, who fear and love Allah strongly). Verily, Allah is the All-Knowing, Well-Acquainted" - Holy Quran, 49:13

The Prophet (s) said: "One who calls towards 'asabiyyah is not from us, one who fights for 'asabiyyah is not from us and the one who dies on 'asabiyyah is not from us." [Mizan al Hikmah, hadith # 13035] source

(I'm not a hadith literate (The sanad isn't there), do inform me if the hadith isn't a sahih. As I don't wanna share a place in Jahannam for sharing a 'hadith' which is not from Rasulullah (s))

It's a noble thing to preserve your rights and heritage, it's just the noble deed is 180-degreely turned when we deny others. Not everyone as good and not everyone as bad. The problem is when less good ppl talk bout less good things that influence others whom without enuff knowledge and understandings of what's goin on.

For Muslims, just remember the Day of Judgement. When all our deeds, our sayings, will be the very reason of our place in one of the two options; hell or heaven. No other place will be offered, unfortunately.

Only Spit Upwards Where Gravity Can't Haunt You :D

Assalamualaikum :)

1st of all, regarding my previous post:

'... so-called holocaust of 6 mil of Jews by the Nazis in the WWII ... might be a giant hoax of the century'

I know it sounds controversial. I never intended to be a holocaust denier (so as to be a holocaust supporter) as the knowledge I received isn't enuff for me to take side. The statement came out when I spent a little more than 4 hours of my life, watching this documentary -> "one third of holocaust". So, I'm humbly apologise if my statement somehow disturbing. :D.

2ndly
Man, I'm tired of this already. What's up with Malaysian politics? Didn't we finished our GE nearly a year ago? Juz do the job already. Stop arguing as who're supposed to be in power. The people have decide, so..?

Perak..
Haiih. 1st the case of 'hopping' party. Then to topple the elected state govt. I dont wanna discuss this issue here, as we can find a lot of relating resources all over the net. I'm just sick of this. With the media manipulating the situation (or being manipulated?).

Yes. The media. the so-called mainstream media!! the platform where we should get unbiased report of issues. Doubt me? Read Utusan Malaysia. Read how totally bias the newspaper towards govt. How extremely bias the reports against the opposition parties. The difference in their tone. I'm a supporter of neither (as I can't show my support in politics, yet), just, this is insane!

When Dato' Sri Anwar Ibrahim stated there would be several MPs from BN would change their side to PR, the response were absolutely thundering. With academic figures (not to mention political figures) stating the action is immoral , doesn't respect the country's law and the people's trust etc etc. But when the exact same thing happened to the other side of the political power, well, it's somehow, suddenly, acceptable.

I'm not critisizing the action of 'hopping' party here (I don't want to, not to say I'm agree or disagree). I want to critisize how the so-called mainstream media play their role. How Utusan Malaysia 'legalise' this action, where several months back, their voices towards the issue were different. Bear in mind that Utusan Malaysia isn't suppose to be a political party newspaper, unlike Harakah of course, where they state clearly they're sold for PAS members only.

They (Utusan Malaysia) abuse the trust given by the people to provide unbiased reports. They're more accessible and widely accepted by the people. So why then, they have an inclined views regarding to political matters?

Just to name a case:

How in Utusan Malaysia, it's repeatedly stated that Ir Nizar should respect the decision of the Sultan of Perak (they even put 'titah Sultan' in their report)
vs
Their reports of BN's reaction towards the Terengganu's when the Sultan decide not to accept BN's candidate for MB.

It's not the matter of who's right or wrong. Just deliver the news as they're. Don't put your political views in the reports. It is really, well, annoying. Coz we're not that dumb to not realize how bias you're.

It's like we're being forced to accept the 'formal' view of issues (can we say..brainwashed?). How can we decide when our source of information has clearly chose their side, when they should be neutral.

A country isn't all about politics. it's not about few people in power to make critical decision of the nation (as how history proves, the elites can be thrown out overnight) . It's about how we should work together to steer the country. The country isn't exclusively one's property. It's ours. Malaysians.

The situation here - as in my naive and unmatured - politically - views - seems like people are more willing to struggle for power rather than to struggle for the sake of the country. The never ending drama of the struggle for the prime spot in our small country's head of administration. Don't they get tired?

Just a humble reminder for Muslims. We should remember that we're all going to be judged. Try our best not to cross the limits set by Allah (as we have countlessly crossed, try to not add another). In front of Him, we're all going to be the same, regardless how powerful we might have been, or how many million (or even billion, or even more) dollars we have saved. What we might have now aren't supposed to be seen as priviledges, rather, liabilities. The more we enjoy our 'priviledges', the heavier the responsibilities are.

I'm sorry Utusan Malaysia. I'm just expressing my views. I didn't have any grudge against you though, it's just I'm sick of the situation rite now.

Gaza Protest , Auckland, 100109

Assalamualaikum :)

Yesterday I attended this rally protesting what's happening in Gaza right now. More than 500 people (3News claims more than 800 people) involved in this protest. The protest went peacefully, starting with speeches by activists, Green Party leader, and by our local Imam at Aotea Square, then a march for about 1 km along Queen Street towards the US Consulate at Customs Street, and ended with the symbolic shoe-throwing towards the consulate building. The protest was organised by Justice for Palestine, Palestine Human Rights Campaign, Global Peace and Justice Auckland.

If we can assemble in the name of humanity, why can't we unite in the name of Allah?

The organisers suggest 5 ways to help the Palestinians:

1) To attend this kind of protest.
2) To support Free Gaza Movement
3) To sign Avazz.org petition: GAZA: STOP THE BLOODSHED
4) To boycott Israeli goods
5) To send a message to NZ's Prime Minister, to condemn the Israeli bombardment of Gaza (j.key@ministers.govt.nz)

Okie, enough of the formal report, this is my point of view for the protest. It's a relief for me to see that there're many people who support the Palestinians, as I used to believe that only Muslims and Arabs will take serious of the matter. It shows that, this aggression doesn't only matter to Muslims and Arabs, this overboard military action by the zionist against the Palestinians also matters to all. It's not just about religion or region, it's about humanity. The killings of civilians, of women, children, the olds, are totally unacceptable, but how funny still is argued. There are still lots of people believe that Israel is just protecting their land from rocket barrage by Hamas (home-made rockets that is). Well, these ignorant, history-blind, naive, and most probably zionist, cannot be reasoned with. They shut their eyes from searching for both stories of what's happening in the middle east. Even if they did, the facts will just fall on their prejudiced mind. The argument of Palestinians should respect Israel's sovereignty as an independent state? Please, we have our own limit on how stupid we can be.

Thanks to the Iraqi reporter, this has become a new phenomenon

My advice, stop being ignorantly spoon fed by the media, use the brain and your common sense, with some history knowledge, and please, watch some documentaries regarding to the sufferings of the Palestinians, of which they're not just traumatised by wars, but also ethnic-cleansing. And tell me, why should the Palestinians, whom house torn down, whose husbands, wives, children, parents killed in front of their eyes, whom their land forcefuly taken by the zionist and developed into housings for the so-called settlers, should respect their 'sovereignty' just because their state is 'legal'? Please, this stupidity, insanity isn't acceptable, really.

Though yesterday's march was dominated by Muslims and Socialists; though we have different visions, different ideology, our mission is the same: To kick the zionists ass out of the Palestinians land!Enough is enough!

burn-n-stomp: uncivilised activity?compared to the butchery in Gaza, this is nothing

Let us pray so Allah reward His courage to our brothers and sisters in Ghaza and all around the world to protect their rights. To seed fear into our enemy's heart. Let their long lives be the reason of their unprecedented sufferings in His eternal flame of Jahannam. Pray so Allah make them see His light, and together help to reduce the sufferings of Muslims all around the world. Pray so Allah forgive all our sins, our incapabilities to help our brothers and sisters, pray so Allah accept our tiny effort to help them. Pray so Allah put his mercy into our brothers and sisters heart, so they would forgive us for not doing anything while they're being oppressed, seing their family members slaughtered in front of their eyes, losing their homes and land. May His Mercy also made all those who died in the 'battlefield' of Ghaza as His Martyrs. Amiin :(.

Stop The Massacre in Ghaza

Assalamualaikum :)..

There'll be an assembly in Auckland regarding to this matter tomorrow (Saturday, 10/01/2009). As what Sh. Rafat said in his khutbah Jumaat earlier today, we need to express our concerns towards our brothers and sisters in Ghaza. This slaughter isn't only condemn by muslims, also by general public, for this is insanity in action. No matter who we are, I humbly think that we all agree this is a genocide, well, unless we're that naive and easily brainwashed to believe this is just another so-called war against terror.

IOF* gunboats assault "Dignity" boat, damage its bow

BEIRUT, (PIC)-- An Israeli navy gunboat on Tuesday deliberately crashed into the front part of the "Dignity" boat that was carrying international sympathizers and doctors from Cyprus to Gaza along with medical supplies and forced it to retreat.

Media sources on board the "Dignity" reported that the Israeli occupation forces' naval units blocked entry of "dignity" into Palestinian territorial waters and destroyed its bow.

Amjad Al-Shawa, spokesman for the network of private institutions, said from aboard "Dignity" that a number of IOF gunboats were surrounding it in international waters.

He added that "Dignity" was forced to divert its destination and was seeking the nearest possible harbor in view of the damage.

He warned that lives of the crew and members of the team on board were in danger, and held the IOF fully responsible for their safety.

Shawa said that the cargo includes three tons of medicine other than four doctors and a number of foreign activists.

The Hebrew radio said that the boat could not move on its own and was stranded at sea in front of the Haifa port after its engines were damaged in the crash.

However, the boat managed to enter the Lebanese regional waters later on and docked at Tyre harbor

My Comment:

This over-the-freakin-bloody-limit by the Zionist is totally unacceptable. Thanks to the modern technology, we're watching a genocide in action, in HD, damn! What can we do? Our help couldn't even reach Gaza. Those blood thirsty bastards are going way overboard with their satanic desire and ideology. Once again, may Allah forgive our limited capabilities to help our brothers and sisters. May our brothers and sisters forgive us. May they endure this hell-on-earth succesfully. May they're all be rewarded with Allah's Jannah. May we are able to stand in front of Allah on the Judgement Day and present a well and solid excuse on why couldn't we help them. Oh Allah forgive us :(.

Hamas: We will not raise the white flag

GAZA, (PIC)-- On the fourth day of the barbaric Israeli occupation forces' bombardment of the Gaza Strip that primarily targeted Hamas buildings and government institutions but which also destroyed civilian homes, Hamas asserted that it would never surrender or raise the white flag.

Dr. Ismail Radwan, one of the political leaders of Hamas, said in a press release on Tuesday that targeting mosques, universities, charitable and civil institutions and civilian homes point to the "ugly, racist, savage and terrorist image of the Israeli occupation".

He urged the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, to retaliate to the aggression, and hailed the Palestinian people's legendary steadfastness and backing of resistance.

Radwan also heaped praise on the Arab and Islamic masses that demonstrated in support of Palestine and called on them to continue pressuring their governments to support the Palestinians.

In another statement for Hamas on Tuesday, it said that the Palestinian people would not be content with the official Arab and Islamic regimes' condemnation but would rather like those regimes to adopt practical steps that would end the "oppressive aggression immediately, to sever all relations with the enemy and to open the Rafah border terminal".

The statement said that the IOF holocaust in Gaza is the latest in a series of brutal crimes against the Palestinian people.

It asked citizens not to evacuate their homes at the request of the IOF to shell them, and asked the people to form human shields around those houses to foil that scheme.

Privatisation of IJN (Institut Jantung Negara)

Assalamualaikum :)..

About 2 days ago I read in Utusan Malaysia Online regarding the proposal made by Sime Darby Berhad to be the biggest shareholder of IJN.

The news raises some concerns amongst most of our fellow Malaysians, from different level and field in the society. The question of would the 'new' IJN be middle and low-class friendly, and the concern of whether this move would actually be beneficial, both for the government and Sime Darby, and not to forget, to the IJN itself, its expertise, the staffs, and so much more.

Briefly, Privatisation Policy was introduced in 1981, under the administration lead by our former PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

One can't deny (in most cases) how much has this policy contribute in the development (most of it, economically) of this country. By privatising public sectors (in which serve the public), the government could save loads of money and focus the use of the 'profit' somewhere else, where they seem fit.

On the bright side, for consumers, we can enjoy a better quality of service, as the sector has become more towards business-oriented (customer-friendly) rather than service-minded (in which u r expected to be grateful the service exists, regardless of the performance).

As the service becomes more for business, one can feel the burden of coping with the cost. And not everyone can cope with this kind of change (economically speaking).

Let us just pray and hope the proposal of selling 51% of the IJN equity to Sime Darby Berhad be beneficial to all. Sime Darby had also promised to let the fee structure as how it is, so that the middle-class and the poor could also benefit from the service, as for we all know, health problems didn't discriminate on how deep your pocket is, health services do.

Jz sharing my 2cents. Cheers :D!!
